About the role

The Lifestyle Therapist is responsible for determining and delivering therapist activities that enhance the psychological, spiritual, social and physical well-being of residents. This role will support residents with dementia.

In this highly varied role you will:

  • Develop and deliver one-on-one, small and large group leisure and recreational activities;
  • Support residents to participate in activities and build relationships; attend to the personal care needs of clients/residents as required;
  • Assess resident needs and develop person-centred care plans and activities;
  • Review and measure the effectiveness of lifestyle programs and activities; amend to make changes and improvements:
  • Maintain accurate documentation of activities; record individual resident-focused information in care documentation;

About you

You are a dynamic and motivated individual who thrives on innovation when it comes to enriching the lives of the elderly. Whether it be a concert at the facility or a day out on the bus, your main goals are to motivate, inspire and involve the residents. You have excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills. You have a fun-loving nature along with compassion and understanding of individual needs.

In order to be successful in this role your knowledge, skills, qualifications should include:

Certificate IV in Leisure & Health or a min. Certificate Level III in any area of dementia, neurological disorder, intellectual impairment, music, arts, massage or other qualification related to diversional therapy;
Light Rigid Bus Licence (Class LR) or ability to acquire this licence within three months of commencement;
Possess, or have the ability to obtain, a current National Police Certificate;
Provide evidence of a current Influenza vaccination and COVID-19 vaccinations.
