About the role

Our compassionate and proactive team are looking for positive, caring and professional Youth Workers to provide care and support to vulnerable young people in our out of home care whose lives have been impacted by trauma.

No two days will be the same however your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Mentoring and acting as a role model for young people;
  • Helping build positive social skills, healthy relationships utilising effective conflict management and negotiation;
  • Assisting with their physical and emotional well-being. This includes anything from helping them prepare their meals and clean up after themselves, to just being there for them when times get tough;
  • Administering program records and maintaining strict documentation in accordance with legal requirements and service policy.

The core hours of work will include night and weekend work. You will also be required to attend staff meetings and compulsory training provided by the organisation.

About you

You are caring, easily approachable with the ability to engage children and youth quickly and effectively to support them in their growth and development.

To be suitable for this position, your qualifications for the role will consist of:

  • A Certificate IV in relevant child welfare or child wellbeing course or currently enrolled;
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge working in residential care; and/or working with young people in child protection or community service context;
  • Minimum Provisional 2 license (Green P);
  • Possess or has the ability to acquire a National Police Check, Blue Card (working with children) and a Licensed Care Services (LCS);
  • Proof of Covid vaccinations.
