About the role

Our experienced teams are looking for Youth Workers to provide care and support to vulnerable young people in our Supported Independent Living and Intensive Foster Care services.

No two days will be the same however your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Mentoring and acting as a role model for young people;
  • Helping them in building positive social skills, utilising effective conflict management and negotiation, and building healthy relationships;
  • Assisting them with their physical and emotional well-being. This includes anything from helping them prepare their meals and clean up after themselves, to just being there for them when times get tough;
  • Administering program records and maintaining strict documentation in accordance with legal requirements and service policy.

The core hours of work are weekdays with varying shifts but averaging 4hrs at different times of the day. The start times can vary based on the needs of children and young people with the opportunity for occasional weekend work. You will also be required to attend staff meetings and compulsory training provided by the organisation.

About you

You are a caring, easily approachable and compassionate person with the ability to engage children and youth quickly and effectively to support them in their growth and development.

To be suitable for this position, your qualifications for the role will consist of:

  • A Certificate IV in a relevant child welfare course or enrolled and working towards completion;
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge working in residential care; and/or working with young people in child protection or community service context;
  • Solid experience working with young people who have significant emotional and psychological support needs;
  • Minimum Provisional 2 Drivers License (Green P);
  • The possessor has the ability to acquire a National Police Check, Blue Card (working with children), a Licensed Care Services (LCS) and COVID vaccinations.
